Last year I wrote about the reasons why you should get the Weapon Brown Omega Edition graphic novel (which I absolutely stand by). It is one of my favorite things on my bookshelf and I often use it to horrify guests who are foolish enough to want to know what I read. Well, Jason Yungbluth is at it again, and with his new Kickstarter you can get your mitts on your own physical copy of Weapon Brown!
Not only is Jason Yungbluth planning on printing more of his awesome abominations, he is also planning on using the funds to start a continuation of his fever dream creation. Not familiar with Weapon Brown? In Jason’s own words:
Weapon Brown is an action parody, a lampoon of the post-apocalyptic genre which utilizes a cast made up entirely of characters borrowed from the most famous newspaper comic strips of all time. For legal reasons I cannot tell you that Weapon Brown stars bad ass, grown-up versions of Charlie Brown, Calvin & Hobbes, Orphan Annie, Huey Freeman and a hundred other pieces of lawsuit bait, but it does.
The 400 plus page graphic novel is hands down one of the wittiest comics I have ever read. It deconstructs and parodies the Post Apocalyptic genre (Mad Max, A Boy and his dog…etc) with love and violence. So much violence. If it is not something you have read then you are doing yourself a disservice. It is one of the bigger influences to my own apocalyptic parody that I am working on.
Jason Yungbluth is also strictly indie. The man writes, illustrates, and produces works for your reading pleasure free on his website, and he does this full time.
